Mother gets 19 years in infant's death

KENNETT, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri woman has been sentenced to 19 years in prison in the death of her 1-month-old daughter.
The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that 26-year-old Joanna Faucett of Campbell was sentenced Wednesday after entering an Alford plea, which is not an admission of guilt but acknowledges that there is sufficient evidence for a conviction.
Authorities say the girl was strangled on April 29, 2009. Police say Faucett became angry because the baby would not stop crying, strangled her, then went back to sleep.
The girl was part of a set of triplets. The other two infants were not home at the time of the death.
