KC officials’ trip to All-Star Game costs $10,000

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Taxpayers in the Kansas City area paid more than $10,000 to send city and county officials to this year’s All-Star Game.

The officials traveled to the game in Phoenix to gather information about staging next year’s All-Star Game in Kansas City.

Those taking the trip included Mayor Sly James, Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders, City Manager Troy Schulte, Mayor Pro-Tem Cindy Circo and other city officials — including police officers.

Sanders and other officials told The Kansas City Star that the trip provided valuable information for organizing the logistics for the All-Star game. They noted the game is expected to bring $50 million to $60 million to the region.

The total bill for the trip is still unknown because all expense reports are not final.
