Nixon to call special session on business aid

Gov. Jay Nixon said Wednesday he will call a special session this year to overhaul Missouri business incentives.

Spokesman Scott Holste said the governor may provide more details, including a date for the session, during "major economic policy remarks" being delivered today in St. Louis and Kansas City.

Holste's comments on Nixon's behalf followed a St. Louis news conference by House Speaker Steven Tilley, R-Perryville, and Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer, R-Dexter.

The two legislative leaders also stopped in Kansas City and Columbia to announce that House and Senate members had reached a consensus on economic development issues.

"The people of Missouri expect us to work with one another to find common sense solutions," Tilley said.
