Noren Access could allow camping along Missouri River
Wednesday, July 20, 2011
Jefferson City is exploring a new potential camp site at the Carl Noren Access to the north bank of the Missouri River.
For the second month, the Parks and Recreation Commission discussed the idea on Tuesday, then sent it to the Park Resources and Planning Committee for further study.

What opportunites to you see the river providing?

Fishing, boating, canoing, birding, listening to the sounds of a large fast river rolling by, looking at one of the longest continental drains on the planet, seeing the capitol, which is where it is because this is the southernmost wandering of the river and a great place to build a city.

WOW - Sounds exciting!. Do you see these opportunities at the Noren access only? Are there other places that offer opportunities to experience the river? How might these opportunities be presented? - that is, what does it look like?

I see nothing negative about allowing camping. Wonder why it was prohibited in the first place?

that would be great! weve been looking for somewhere close to go with the family. far enough to make it fun and still close enough to get something if you need it. for major campers might not be so great but for us with little kids it would be perfect.

An inexpensive way to bring people to the community and an inexpensive way to visit the community. Where exactly is the Noren access?

A stone's throw upstream of the HWY63/54 bridge. You can see it from this side or from the bridge. there's a marked exit going north and one coming south. Department of Conservation.

It is a great place to camp. I applaud them for doing this.

Yeah right, 24/7 truck and traffic noise, no shade anywhere, the wonderful aroma from the sewage plant, more state owned property in a flood zone that will have to be rebuilt after flooding. This idea makes as much sense as the Cedar Creek Access which was a total failure due to the fact that half of the time you couldnt get to the river from there in anything larger than an inner tube. The bank caved in under the ramp and has never been rebuilt, what a waste of money
