ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl who shot herself in the head after finding a gun in the room where she was left alone.
The girl’s name has not been released.
Police were called to a home Tuesday night in south St. Louis. Authorities say the child was left unattended in an adult bedroom while her father was out of the home. Police tell KSDK-TV they believe the girl found the gun tucked between two mattresses.
The girl was taken to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
