Firefighters looking for pieces of past

Firefighters are asking the public to help find documents or pictures that could be used as part of the celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the full-time Jefferson City Fire Department.

Fire Capt. Tim Young said events are being planned for Oct. 6-7, 2012.

“A Century of Full-time Service” will be the theme.

“For 70 years prior to the full-time service, the city was served by a volunteer fire department, and the original volunteer department was formed in January 1842,” Young said.
