More than 2,200 vehicles pass dual sobriety checkpoints

With the three-day holiday weekend approaching, the Cole County Sheriff’s Department conducted the largest Sobriety Checkpoint in its history.
On Friday, a checkpoint was conducted on U.S. 54 West at Hammond Road with 1,709 cars passing through the checkpoint and deputies contacting 523 of those cars.
At the same time, the Missouri Highway Patrol conducted a separate sobriety checkpoint on Route C near Missouri 179.
