Mayoral hopeful vacates office

Hartsfield alleges anonymous letter "politically motivated'

George Hartsfield is changing his plans - and the location of his campaign office.

In a Saturday press release, the former Jefferson City mayor and current mayoral candidate announced he is vacating the office he has used at the Firley YMCA since retiring in the summer of 2009.

"Although everyone recognizes that the anonymous letter to the YMCA Board of Directors was politically motivated, I do not want to innocently create any negative perception of our YMCA, an organization that I led for nearly 19 years and which means a great deal to me," Hartsfield said in the press release.
