Quick start leads Jays past Junior Bills

ST. LOUIS - The Jefferson City Jays raced out to an 18-3 lead after one quarter and went on to grab a 62-54 win Friday night over St. Louis University High.

The Jays got four 3-pointers in the opening period, including two from Jack Young, to take control.

Jefferson City pushed the lead to 16 points three times in the second quarter, the last time on a layup by Devon Moore, that gave the Jays a 31-15 lead at halftime.

The Jays took their biggest lead of the game - 18 points - twice in the third quarter. The first came at 36-18 on a pair of free throws by Young, the second at 39-21 when Young canned another 3.
