Sometimes change is a good thing.

But that was not the case this week in determining the site for the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s (MSHSAA) cross country state championship.

Bad news for city residents and taxpayers. Good news (more $$) for Parks and Wreck.

Umm...why would this be a bad thing for our city? Hundreds of visitors coming to our community where they will stay in hotels, eat, and shop...

All the money goes to benefit a few businesses. Meanwhile the roads are all clogged up with all the traffic and people tearing up the golf course, etc. At least move this mess out to Binder where it won't bother so many people as it does in town.

I'm glad to see this. I'm sorry that some people have to deal with a little traffic for a race that takes 1 morning a year and greatly benefits our beloved home-town. So what if it's just a "few businesses" that are benefited? Those businesses generate revenue for the city and state and also pay their employees who spend their paychecks right here in town, thereby further benefiting the city. It's basic economics.

I live very close to Oak Hills. No doubt about it, one day a year, it's a royal pain. People parked all over the subdivision I live in and one lane streets left as a result. You have to pull into someone's drive in order to let a car coming the other direction pass. But it's only one day a year. I'll live with it for the publicity and people it brings to whatever businesses it benefits. I do agree, Binder would be better, but it comes with its own set of parking and traffic problems and there would be even fewer businesses getting the people out there.
