2 charged in death of SE Missouri toddler

SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) - Two people are charged in southeast Missouri in the death of a 17-month-old girl.

Twenty-five-year-old Tabitha Hail and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Robert Benjamin Ransom, are charged with second-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of Hail's daughter. Hail is also charged with abuse of a child.

The Sikeston couple were being held Wednesday in Scott County on $150,000 cash bond. Online court records did not list lawyers for them.

KFVS-TV reports police and emergency medical personnel were called to the Sikeston home Monday night and found the toddler not breathing. She was pronounced dead at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

The Scott County coroner has requested an autopsy.
