GILMAN CITY, Mo. (AP) — The state fire marshal is investigating a house fire that killed one person and injured three others in rural northwest Missouri.
Crews from several departments responded to the fire early Saturday at a two-story home in the Harrison County town of Gilman City.
A husband and wife and their 11-year-old son were rescued. Emergency responders said all three were badly injured and were taken to hospitals.
Firefighters discovered the remains of the couple’s 18-year-old daughter hours later while searching through the ashes and rubble.
Names of the family members had not been released by Sunday.
The house was destroyed. Investigators were checking whether the fire started in a stove.
