Old Town wheels turning
Jefferson City Council, staff show interest in ideas
Sunday, January 23, 2011
Despite being about issues that focus on the oldest parts of Jefferson City, the suggestions about Old Town are seeing some new vigor and enthusiasm with the city council.
Almost two weeks after 5th Ward Councilman Ron Medin and other members of the ad hoc committee on the revitalization of Old Town submitted their findings to the council, the wheels have already started to turn to put suggestions in place.
One such proposal is for a downtown festival district, otherwise known as an open beverage container district.

It is the area within the boundaries of the MO River (North), Riverside Dr.-Clark Ave.-Moreau Dr.(East), Leslie Blvd.-Stadium Blvd. (South), Southwest Blvd.-Dix Rd.-Boonville Rd (West). Mostly it's a place where lots of time, energy, and funds are sent.

Speaking of revitlization, some entity needs to revitalize that blasted out, weed covered eysore on West Stadium Blvd. across from JCMG. It used to be a nice looking cedar forested hillside. There ARE parts of Jefferson City besides uptown and old town.
