Remains found along Mississippi River identified

Authorities in southeast Missouri have identified skeletal remains found earlier this month on the bank of the Mississippi River.

The Sikeston Standard Democrat reports that the victim is 20-year-old Eli Culp of Cairo, Ill. Authorities believe he drowned Aug. 15 near Cairo.

A marine service worker found the remains Jan. 4 near Belmont, Mo. The bones were sent to a forensic anthropologist in St. Louis County. Positive identification was made through dental records provided by Culp's family.
