BOSTON (AP) - Zdeno Chara had his first career three-goal game and Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for his seventh shutout to lift the Boston Bruins to a 7-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.
Mark Stuart, returning to the lineup after missing 18 games with a broken finger, had a goal in the first period. Gregory Campbell, Patrice Bergeron and Michael Ryder also scored for Boston, which has lost just twice in regulation in its last 13 games (8-2-3).
It was the Bruins' second lopsided win in six days; they shut out Ottawa 6-0 with Thomas in net last Tuesday. It was also the third time in the last four games Boston scored at least six goals.
The teams meet again Tuesday night at Carolina. The Hurricanes lost in regulation for just the second time in 11 games (6-2-3).
Stars 2, Kings 1
DALLAS (AP) - Jamie Langenbrunner scored the go-ahead goal on a second-period power play in his 1,000th NHL game, six minutes after Loui Eriksson also scored with the man advantage.
Langenbrunner broke a 1-all tie when he drove the net and converted Brad Richards' centering pass at 16:59 of the second with a second showing on Dallas' fifth power play.
Langenbrunner has appeared in 436 games for Dallas and 564 for New Jersey. He became the 260th NHL player to reach the milestone, following San Jose's Patrick Marleau, who logged his 1,000th game against Phoenix earlier Monday.
The Stars held a pregame ceremony for Langenbrunner, who had gone without a goal in his first three games back with Dallas since he was acquired in a trade with the Devils.
Sharks 4, Coyotes 2
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Patrick Marleau scored early in his 1,000th career NHL game and the San Jose Sharks beat Phoenix 4-2 Monday, snapping the Coyotes' four-game winning streak.
Rookie Logan Couture and Dany Heatley each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who won their second in a row after ending a six-game skid with a win Saturday night against St. Louis. Joe Thornton's empty-net goal with 48 seconds left sealed the victory.
Coyotes rookie Oliver Ekman-Larsson got his first NHL goal. Derek Morris also scored for Phoenix.
Thrashers 3, Panthers 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Bryan Little and Alexander Burmistrov scored in the shootout and the Atlanta Thrashers rallied from a late two-goal deficit.
Atlanta won the shootout 2-1, clinching the victory when Ondrej Pavelec stopped Cory Stillman's wrist shot on Florida's third attempt. Mike Santorelli scored on the Panthers' first attempt to give Florida a 1-0 lead in the shootout.
Little and Burmistrov scored on Atlanta's first two attempts. Little and Chris Thorburn scored in regulation for Atlanta, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Pavelec stopped 38 shots in regulation and overtime. The Thrashers had given up 24 goals in their previous four games.
Dennis Wideman and Dmitry Kulikov scored in regulation for the Panthers.
Canadiens 5, Flames 4
MONTREAL (AP) - P.K. Subban scored 1:06 into overtime and Montreal Canadiens after blowing a four-goal lead. Subban took Scott Gomez's pass and beat Henrik Karlsson with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle for the winner.
Calgary's Ales Kotalik and Alex Tanguay scored 1:19 apart early in the third to tie it at 4.
Rene Bourque scored the Flames' first goal at 13:26 of the second and Jarome Iginla made it 4-2 at 18:48.
Michael Cammalleri and Jeff Halpern each had a goal and an assist and Lars Eller and Andrei Kostitsyn also scored for Montreal, which is 6-1-1 in its last eight. Jaroslav Spacek had two assists. Carey Price stopped all four shots he faced after taking over for Alex Auld following Tanguay's goal.
Devils 5, Islanders 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Vladimir Zharkov scored his first NHL goal, and the suddenly potent New Jersey Devils broke out again.
Zharkov started the Devils' latest barrage in the first period before Ilya Kovalchuk doubled the lead 57 seconds later. New Jersey also got a pair of goals 54 seconds apart from Rod Pelley and Dainius Zubrus in the second period after the Islanders trimmed a three-goal deficit to one.
Mattias Tedenby, playing for the first time since Jan. 1, and Pelley both had a goal and an assist to back Martin Brodeur's 27-save effort.
The Devils (13-29-3) closed within six points of the Islanders (14-23-7) as they try to escape the NHL cellar.
P.A. Parenteau and Michael Grabner had goals 54 seconds apart to pull New York to 3-2.
