BOSTON (AP) - Jordan Staal scored with 16:35 left to help the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Boston 3-2 Saturday and avoid another collapse against the Bruins.
Five days after giving up four goals in the final 3:23 to hand a victory to Boston, the Penguins blew another two-goal lead before recovering to win without Sidney Crosby for just the second time in five games. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 44 shots for his 20th win of the season.
Tuukka Rask made 33 saves for the Bruins, and Dennis Seidenberg and Michael Ryder scored 13 seconds apart in the second period to erase a 2-0 deficit.
But Staal backhanded a loose puck in front past Rask to make it 3-2. Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis also scored for the Penguins.
Red Wings 6, Blue Jackets 5, OT
DETROIT (AP) - Johan Franzen scored 45 seconds into overtime to give Detroit a win over Columbus.
Drew Miller had a goal and two assists, and Jonathan Ericsson and Kris Draper each added a goal and an assist for Detroit. Valtteri Filppula and Brian Rafalski also scored and Darren Helm had two assists. Joey MacDonald made 24 saves.
Rick Nash had a goal and two assists, and Derick Brassard and Grant Clitsome posted a goal and an assist each for Columbus. Matt Calvert and R.J. Umberger also scored and Steve Mason stopped 28 shots.
Canadiens 3, Rangers 2
MONTREAL (AP) - Roman Hamrlik and Tomas Plekanec had power-play goals, and Montreal scored three times in a span of 2:46 in the first period to beat the New York Rangers.
James Wisniewski assisted on both power-play goals. He set up Hamrlik's tying goal 13:19 in and Plekanec's 14th goal, which made it 2-1, at 14:50. Andrei Kostitsyn scored Montreal's final goal at 16:03.
Carey Price made 31 saves for the Canadiens, who beat the Rangers 2-1 in New York on Tuesday. Montreal is on a 5-1-1 run.
Mats Zuccarello drew the Rangers within one 6:57 into the third. Brian Boyle added his career-best 15th goal for New York. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 38 shots for the Rangers, who scored just one goal in each of their previous two games.
Islanders 5, Sabres 3
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - John Tavares scored three goals for his second NHL hat trick, and Rick DiPietro made 40 saves to help the New York Islanders beat Buffalo and snap a three-game losing streak.
DiPietro played for the first time since he injured a groin during New York's five-game road trip.
Blake Comeau and Michael Grabner also scored for New York, 9-4-2 in its last 15 games.
Tomas Vanek, Tyler Ennis and Jochen Hecht scored for the Sabres, who got 32 saves from Ryan Miller.
Panthers 3, Devils 2, OT
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Dmitry Kulikov fired a high wrist shot past Martin Brodeur 3:36 into overtime and Florida topped New Jersey for its third straight win.
Dennis Wideman and Evgeny Dadonov scored power-play goals for Florida, which entered with the NHL's worst (10.3 percent) power-play unit. Former Devils goalie Scott Clemmensen made his second straight start and stopped 33 shots.
Nick Palmieri and David Clarkson scored for New Jersey. Brodeur had 19 saves as the Devils failed in their attempt to win a third straight game for the first time since a five-game run from Dec. 12-21, 2009.
The Panthers have won the first three games of a six-game homestand.
Hurricanes 6, Lightning 4
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Jussi Jokinen scored two goals, and Eric Staal added a short-handed tally and two assists to lift Carolina over Tampa Bay.
Jokinen scored on a second-period power play and added an empty-net goal with 7 seconds left.
Staal's 22nd of the season capped a three-goal second period for Carolina, which is 7-2-2 in its last 11 games.
Simon Gagne scored twice for Tampa Bay, which has lost four of six. The Lightning gave up at least five goals in each defeat.
Steven Stamkos gave Tampa Bay an early lead with his NHL-leading 33rd goal.
Coyotes 6, Ducks 2
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Ray Whitney scored two goals and added an assist to help Phoenix beat Anaheim.
Lee Stempniak had a goal and two assists, Adrian Aucoin and Sami Lepisto each added a goal and assist, and Taylor Pyatt also scored for the Coyotes, who won their fourth straight. Phoenix is 6-0-1 in its past seven and has risen from 11th place to fourth in the Western Conference.
Matt Beleskey and Corey Perry scored for the Ducks, whose three-game winning streak was snapped. Anaheim has lost only twice in eight games.
Stars 6, Thrashers 1
DALLAS (AP) - Trevor Daley scored twice on the power play for his first two-goal game in the NHL, Kari Lehtonen stopped 29 shots in his first appearance against his former team, and Dallas beat Atlanta.
Lehtonen, the No. 2 pick in the 2002 draft, played for the Thrashers from 2003 until he was traded to the Stars on Feb. 9, 2010.
James Neal also had a two-goal game for the Stars, who have won seven straight on the road but are only 2-3-2 in their last seven at home.
Adam Burish and Jeff Woywitka added goals for Dallas.
Andrew Ladd scored for Atlanta, 0-3-1 in its last four.
Predators 3, Blackhawks 2, SO
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Marcel Goc scored the only goal in the shootout, and Nashville rallied from a two-goal deficit after two periods to beat Chicago.
Goc took the first shot in the shootout for Nashville, and goalie Pekka Rinne made it stand up by stopping Jonathan Toews and gloving Patrick Kane's shot. Patrick Sharp had a last chance, but his shot went wide.
Nashville captain Shea Weber and Jerred Smithson scored less than four minutes apart in the third period.
Tomas Kopecky scored a power-play goal, and Viktor Stalberg had a goal for Chicago.
The Predators have won three of the first four games this season against the team that ousted them from last year's playoffs in the opening round.
Flames 2, Maple Leafs 1, SO
TORONTO (AP) - Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 32 shots through overtime and then turned aside two of four shootout attempts to lift Calgary over Toronto.
Olli Jokinen scored the deciding goal in the shootout for the Flames.
Calgary's Matt Stajan and Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski traded third-period goals in the game that was scoreless after 40 minutes. Grabovski tied it with just 12.4 seconds left in regulation.
