Henley couple loses home to fire

A fire late Friday evening destroyed a home at 6014 Railroad Street in Henley.

The fire was reported to Cole County Fire Protection District at about 11:30 p.m. and the crews remained on the scene until 3:30 a.m., Steve Cearlock, the district's public information officer, said.

The single family home was a total loss, with damage estimated at about $40,000.

Cearlock identified the home's occupants as being the Gerald Bunch family.

Cearlock said there were no injuries to the couple, who were not at home at the time, or to any of the 20 firefighters who responded to the scene.

Five fire stations responded to the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
