Jay Hughes will lead the Missouri Baptist Convention while it searches for a new executive director in the wake of director David Tolliver's resignation.
In a statement this week, Convention President John Marshall said Tolliver resigned "in response to allegations being made by a woman."
Executive board members chose Hughes during a closed-door meeting Friday afternoon. Hughes said no one knows yet how long the search for a permanent director will take.
"At the board meeting, they elected a subcommittee to put the names together for a search committee," he explained, "and probably will bring those names at our next regularly scheduled meeting in April. And then they'll start the search process from there."
No one from Mid-Missouri was named to that subcommittee.
