Survey: Jefferson City residents desire new rec center
Officials considering plan after public input
Wednesday, January 12, 2011
A public meeting was held Tuesday evening at Jefferson City Hall to show results of a citywide survey of residents for a feasibility study on a community recreation center.
Darin Barr with Ballard*King & Associates, which specializes in planning for recreation facilities, told a crowd of about 25-30 that no decisions have been made from these results and more fine-tuning will have to be done to them.

No kidding! Instead of building the little tiny Landwhere Conference Center to benefit only the State workers and the few local merchants, how about building a nice big COMMUNITY CENTER for the benefit of ALL THE RESIDENTS!!!

that would make too much sense.

This is the last thing we need. The government should not be creating recreational centers that is the private sectors job. I'm tired of being taxed so other people can play.

No doubt. Wake up people. We need to get our fiscal disorder under control. What on earth leads anyone to believe that you actually need this and why is anyone listening to the people who are selling this thing to you when its obvious they have something to gain from it? Of course they are going to tell you its a great idea.
Its time to tighten the belt and quit wasting money on things that just aren't a priority. This is the exact thing that is most wrong with our people and our country right now. We keep spending money we don't have on stuff we don't need.
Sure it would be nice to have and so would brand new cars in all of our driveways. So would eating out at fancy restaurants 4 nights a week. I'd love to have a big new TV set right now as well but I am smart enough to know that money is getting very tight in my world and in most everyone else's that some things just gotta wait or be done without.
Quit being tools played as fools. Go jog for free and lift bricks tied to sticks if you need some exercise and quit spending money you don't have. They are taking people's homes away due to debts that can't be paid and now some of you want to contribute money you don't have to pay for a rec center or are they just listening to a minority of people who want this and project it out like its a big local fan favorite that its not?
If your government is going to spend your money, make sure its going to something that you absolutely need. Too much money is being wasted on friends of people in high places who donate campaign contributions and want to advertise their gifted rec center to you like they did you a big favor by ripping the skin off your backs in order to erect the thing.
Hold these nimwits accountable that keep blowing all your money. Quit being suckers.
