Unit shift avoids layoffs at Fulton State Hospital
Tuesday, January 11, 2011
FULTON, Mo. -- Marty Martin-Forman was overjoyed to learn that more state jobs have been moved to the Fulton hospital, partially offsetting planned job losses.
The 43 jobs that were scheduled to be lost have been saved at Fulton State Hospital because a mental health unit from Marshall will be transferred to Fulton.

Now that's thinking out of the box and maximizing the economy of scale by combining groups of people with similar needs for supervision into the same facility. If more thought were given to how to keep programs that serve the public and preserve jobs the state would be a better steward of your tax dollars. No one wins when jobs are lost and services denied.
