THE VERDICT IS IN: Man convicted in 2009 robbery and shooting
Testimony resumes for a second day in the trial of a St. Louis man charged with a robbery and shooting that occurred in Jefferson City on East Capitol Avenue in October 2009.
Prosecutors charged Patrick Harris, 38 — who also is known as Patrick Evans — with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
As the trial began Monday, Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson gave the jury details of what happened on Oct. 13, 2009, when Harris approached a group of seven people outside 611 E. Capitol Ave. around 10:22 p.m.

I sincerely hope this dirt bag gets the maximum sentences possible on all counts, all run consequetively. If our judges refuse to make examples of armed robbers then we will become a city of lawlessness. God I hope they read this!

At least give this guy TWO MONTHS of unsupervised probation.

I don't understand why shooting someone and trying to effectively murder them, doesn't carry the same punishments as murder. The intent is the same to me and the fact that the victim survives doesn't make the criminal any less dangerous. I agree with gofish and hope this perp gets the maximum sentences on all counts. My son was the victim in an armed robbery in which a gun was used here locally and one of our local judges actually gave the loser probation despite the fact he was already on probation for earlier but less violent offenses.

Kind of like giving DUI Persistent Offenders a few more months of probation instead of taking away their license to drive permanently, locking them up, etc. Don't understand it, but it happens over and over around here...

Armed robbery is a Class A felony and I believe has a maximum sentence of Life. The judge can make the other sentences consequetive which will amount to a true life sentence. Let's hope the judge does the right thing by the victim and the community.
