YOUR OPINION: Alliance welcomes faiths
Monday, January 10, 2011
Dear Editor:
I enjoyed the Bob Watson/News Tribune article about the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. Nixon stated that the breakfast “brought together a diverse group of Missourians.” He talked about Missourians various expressions of faith.
I see these words as bringing people together. We live in a diverse world. Not everybody believes the same way. It is important to look for what we have in common with people of other faiths.
The Capital Area Interfaith Alliance (CAIA) is working toward this goal. We have brought together people from Christian, Buddist, Islamic, Jewish and many other backgrounds toward the goal of creating harmony.
We have created and facilitated public discussions on topics of mutual concern. We will create more such events in the future. For information contact the Rev. William Edwards at revhbwe@aol.com or call (573) 635-5826.
