Missouri officials outraged by Arizona shooting rampage

Missouri officials responded with outrage after Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was wounded in a deadly Arizona shooting rampage.

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill said in a written statement that she is praying for Giffords, along with the other victims and their families. She says the violence does "real damage to all things good about our country and our democracy."

Republican leader Vicky Hartzler's spokesman, Steve Walsh, says the congresswoman "is deeply saddened" by the shooting and is praying for the full recovery of the survivors.

Democratic Congressman Emanuel Cleaver said in a statement that there is "no place in American society for such senseless and terrible acts of extreme violence."

He says it's crucial for government leaders to be "cautious of fanning the flames of extremism."
