SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A southwest Missouri man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for causing a deadly crash while driving drunk.
The Springfield News-Leader reported that 24-year-old Shane Young received the sentence Friday in a packed Greene County courtroom.
Prosecutors said Young caused a chain-reaction collision on Nov. 3, 2009, when he crashed into vehicles that were stopped at a train crossing. The crash killed 20-year-old Daniel Kinnaird of Nixa, who was in one of the stopped vehicles.
Young had an open case of beer in his vehicle. He had been released from jail just a day earlier after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
