The Jefferson City Jays didn't get everything they wanted out of Saturday's CGI Duals Tournament. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a productive day.
"We wanted to win, we're not happy that we didn't," Jays coach Phil Cagle said after Jefferson City finished second in the inaugural event at Fleming Fieldhouse. "But the kids learned some things, we learned some things about the kids."
Jefferson City and Nixa were both 4-0 heading into the tournament's final dual. Nixa, on the strength of getting a forfeit because of an earlier injury and winning three one-point matches, topped Jefferson City 37-27 for the title.
