Cue the crews: New owners begin revitalizing former

A Jefferson City man and his family are hopeful their efforts to revitalize a downtown business will spur other improvements in the area.

Dan Pfenenger and his family purchased the former Mike's Corner Pocket on High Street.

"We plan to have two businesses in the building," he said. "We'll have a sports bar and grill, and we'll also have a multi-media design business. In the upper part of the building, we plan to have room for three large loft apartments."

Work has been going on the past several days to redo the inside of the structure, and there are plans to redo the frontage of the building that faces High Street.

Pfenenger said the sports bar and grill will feature games, just like Mike's did. He added they plan to create a local sports atmosphere by featuring area high school and college teams.

Pfenenger hopes they'll be open for business around March 1 in time for college basketball's March Madness championship tournament.
