A decision on where jurors will be imported to hear the case of Jefferson City man accused of killing two people in September 2009 should be made in a few days.
Lawyers for David Hosier, 54, and Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson appeared at a Thursday hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce.
Hosier is charged with one count of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the death of Angela Gilpin. He's also charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Rodney Gilpin.
The Gilpins died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Hosier was arrested in Oklahoma about seven hours after the Gilpins were killed in the hallway just outside her apartment at 1100 W. High St.
The Gilpins were separated at the time of the shooting, but were working on reconciliation. Angela had been in a relationship with Hosier during the separation, but had ended it.
Hosier has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is facing the death penalty. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail for Cole County.
On Thursday, public defender Donald Catlett, representing Hosier, said there still had been no agreement on a venue change.
Richardson said he would want the trial to remain in Cole County because of the large amount of evidence and witnesses that would be called in this case.
When asked for places to pick jurors, Richardson suggested Greene or Cape Girardeau counties.
