Teens accused in shooting of Missouri officer

MARYLAND HEIGHTS (AP) - Three teenagers are in custody in the shooting of a suburban St. Louis police officer.

Authorities on Monday announced the arrests of two brothers, 17-year-old Marquise Lockhart and 19-year-old Evan Lockhart, and a 16-year-old who is not related. The brothers face charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted robbery and armed criminal action.

The Lockharts were jailed and did not yet have attorneys.

Maryland Heights Sgt. Joe Eagan had surgery after being shot in the face last month. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

STLtoday.com, the website for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports that Eagan was conducting surveillance in an unmarked car when the men allegedly targeted the vehicle for a carjacking, even though they knew he was a police officer.
