Bill Betts: City IT work a break from Marines

A rough day at work isn’t what it used to be for Bill Betts.
Years before he came to work as the director for Jefferson City’s Information Technology Services to help bring the city government structure into the digital age, he was doing the same thing for a much more demanding employer — the United States Marine Corps.
Betts said while he was serving his country as a communications specialist for the Marines in the early ’90s, he was reassigned with two other people to help incorporate computers into daily use for his battalion.
