Sunday's NHL Capsules

NEW YORK (AP) - Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist, and Vincent Lecavalier snapped a third-period tie during a two-man power play to lift Tampa Bay to a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday in the Lightning's first road game in more than a month.

Fresh off a 7-3-2 homestand, the Lightning looked just fine away from Florida. St. Louis scored in the first period and then set up Lecavalier's 15th goal that made it 2-1. Tampa Bay, second in the Eastern Conference, played on the road for the first time since Jan. 21.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 22 shots as the Lightning completed a four-game sweep of the Rangers, a potential first-round playoff opponent.

Brandon Prust scored a short-handed goal in the second period for New York, which had a two-game winning streak snapped. Henrik Lundqvist made 17 saves.

Blackhawks 4, Coyotes 3, SO

CHICAGO (AP) - Jonathan Toews scored twice in regulation and had the lone goal in the shootout to lead Chicago over Phoenix for its fourth straight victory.

Marian Hossa also scored for the Blackhawks, 6-1-2 in their last nine games.

Adrian Aucoin, Keith Yandle and Martin Hanzal scored in the second for the Coyotes, who tied it 3-all late in the period after trailing by two goals twice. The Coyotes are 0-2-1 following an eight-game winning streak.

Chicago's Corey Crawford made 26 saves, while Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 38 shots for Phoenix.

Bruins 3, Oilers 2

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Michael Ryder had a goal and an assist to lead the surging Boston Bruins past Edmonton.

Nathan Horton and Rich Peverley also scored for the Northeast Division-leading Bruins, who have won five straight on their six-game road trip.

Ales Hemsky and Gilbert Brule had goals for the Oilers. Brule was back in the lineup after sitting out 27 of the past 30 games with an illness.

It was the first NHL game between Edmonton left wing Taylor Hall and Boston center Tyler Seguin, picked first and second, respectively, in the 2010 entry draft.

Predators 3, Blue Jackets 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - David Legwand capped Nashville's three-goal third period with the go-ahead score with 1:35 remaining to lead the Predators over Columbus.

Shea Weber and Jonathon Blum also scored for Nashville, which kept pace in the tightly bunched Western Conference playoff race. It was the first NHL goal for Blum.

Matt Calvert and Kris Russell scored for Columbus.

Nashville's victory extended the longest current winning streak by one team against another in an NHL city. The Predators have defeated the Blue Jackets in their past 16 trips to Music City.

Nashville snapped a four-game losing streak while Columbus' three-game winning streak ended.

Thrashers 3, Maple Leafs 2, OT

ATLANTA (AP) - Ron Hainsey scored from the edge of the left circle in overtime and Atlanta beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere and the Toronto Maple Leafs to snap a five-game winless streak.

Chris Mason had 22 saves and Andrew Ladd and Tim Stapleton scored third-period goals as the Thrashers rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Atlanta's rally came after Toronto lost goalie James Reimer to an injury early in the second period. The Thrashers earned their second win since the All-Star break.

Giguere, who hadn't played since Feb. 16 while recovering from a lower body injury, replaced Reimer and lost the lead in the third before giving up Hainsey's game-winning goal.

Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel scored first-period goals for Toronto.

Devils 2, Panthers 1

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - David Clarkson and Brian Rolston scored goals and Martin Brodeur stopped 25 shots in his return from injury as New Jersey beat Florida.

The Devils are 17-2-2 in their past 21 games. They climbed within nine points of eighth-place Carolina in the Eastern Conference while the Panthers remained eight points back of the postseason cutoff.

Brodeur hadn't played since injuring his right knee Feb. 6 in Montreal.

Marty Reasoner scored for Florida and Tomas Vokoun made 24 saves.

Ducks 3, Avalanche 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Todd Marchant snapped a 70-game goal drought, Brandon McMillan got the go-ahead score during a 4-minute power play with 8:37 remaining, and Anaheim ended a five-game losing streak with a victory over Colorado.

Ryan Getzlaf also scored and Dan Ellis made 22 saves in his second start for the Ducks since being acquired last Thursday in a trade that sent ineffective backup goalie Curtis McElhinney to Tampa Bay.

Kevin Porter and David Jones scored for the Avalanche, who have lost 13 of 14 and sit next-to-last in the Western Conference. They have lost seven straight at Anaheim.

Marchant's goal, which came on his 48th shot of the season, was his first since March 17, 2010, against Chicago. It gave Anaheim a 2-1 lead at 17:51 of the second period.

Flames 1, Blues 0

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves for his fifth shutout of the season and David Moss scored the only goal as Calgary defeated St. Louis.

The Flames broke a scoreless tie at 5:39 of the third period after a bad sequence from Blues defensemen Carlo Colaiacovo and Tyson Strachan.

Calgary finished its five-game homestand 3-1-1 and moved into sole possession of sixth place in the Western Conference. St. Louis lost for the fourth time in five games.

It was the 39th career shutout for Kiprusoff, who made his 16th straight start.
