Mo. lawmaker injured in traffic accident returns

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A central Missouri lawmaker injured while driving to the state Capitol during a winter storm last month has returned.

Republican House member Wanda Brown was seriously injured in a traffic accident Jan. 31 in central Missouri's Benton County. Brown lost control of her vehicle on any icy state highway and the vehicle went off the road and overturned.

Brown received a standing ovation Wednesday when she returned to the House. Several colleagues hugged her and shook her handr.

Brown is a freshman Republican representing the 116th House District, which includes Benton County and parts of Morgan and Pettis counties. Brown's traffic accident happened the same week that a storm dropped about 18 inches of snow in Jefferson City.
