Track season in full swing for area athletes

They shine at various meets over the weekend

Several area track and field athletes were in action at a variety of meets this weekend, with the largest contingent taking part in the Missouri Collegiate Challenge on Friday at the Hearnes Center.

A pair of former Jefferson City Lady Jays won events, as Missouri’s Leslie Farmer took first in the 600-yard run (1:23.13) and teammate Heather Green won the pole vault (12-6).

Lincoln University had several top results, led by the Blue Tigers’ Jhanell Brown, while competing unattached, won the 60-meter dash (7.69) and 200-meter dash (25.98).
