COLUMBIA, Mo. - Ryan Strope put his perfect record on the line Saturday night in the 112-pound championship of the Class 1 State Championships at Mizzou Arena.

The only thing standing in Strope's way of becoming Fatima's first state champion in wrestling was Tyler Mann of Lathrop. It was the same Mann who handed Strope a 7-1 loss in their semifinal match last year at 103.

Strope knew Mann's style, but he wasn't prepared for his aggressiveness at the start.

"Ryan deserves a lot of credit for battling back after falling in a hole and making a match of it," Fatima coach Bob Luke said of his sophomore wrestler who finished the season 37-1.
