The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is working to make the next piece in the St. Mary’s puzzle fit together.
At a meeting Wednesday, the organization’s board of directors opened up to public comment two amendments to its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), both of which are connected to the construction of the new hospital, slated to be built just off Route 179 and anticipated to be completed in late 2014.
The first project the governing body discussed was for an interchange between the highway and the hospital’s new site.
If approved by CAMPO, the federal government will foot more than $5 million of the project’s $7.42 million bill. In addition, MoDOT will pay more than $1.3 million, Cole County will pay more than $560,000 and Jefferson City will pay $374,000. That will be in addition to the $438,000 it paid before 2011. Cole County also paid $626,000 before 2011.
