The trial for a St. Martins teenager accused of killing a nine-year-old neighbor has been rescheduled for June 1.
According to court records, Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce ordered the delay following a meeting with prosecutors and defense attorneys, Thursday.
Alyssa Bustamante, 17, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Elizabeth Olten in Oct. 2009.
Her trial had been scheduled for May 16.
The jury will still be chosen in Greene County and the trial will be held in Cole County.
The judge also ordered Friday that hearings on possible evidence will be open only to people with what she called "a right to be present," although that phrase was not defined. Joyce also barred recording or photographing the evidence hearings.
A hearing for a motion to suppress evidence is scheduled March 16.
