Senate backs fire sprinklers bill to extend homeowner option

State senators have endorsed a bill allowing Missourians to choose whether they want sprinklers in their new homes or not.

Senators still must take a final vote approving the bill before it can be sent to the House, where a similar bill was passed Monday and already has been sent to the Senate.

Both bills extend the expiration date of a law passed two years ago.
