St. Louis man sentenced for selling fake Viagra

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for illegally importing and selling counterfeit Viagra and Cialis.

Mark Hughes was also ordered to pay restitution to victims at his sentencing in U.S. District Court in St. Louis on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in October to one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods and one count of selling misbranded drugs.

Authorities say that over a three-year period, Hughes ordered large quantities of prescription and pharmaceutical drugs from sources in India and China, even though he is not licensed or authorized to sell and distribute those drugs.

The U.S. Attorney's office says Hughes sold counterfeit versions of Viagra and Cialis for $5 per pill. He admitted selling more than 11,000 doses with a value of more than $120,000.
