Schulte's IGA receives energy efficiency rebate

Bob Schulte, owner of Schulte's IGA, received a check for nearly $14,000 from Ameren Missouri in energy efficiency rebates.

The store collaborated with Hussmann, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, to complete an extensive retrofit which included upgrading to the refrigeration system for two new cooling racks; a freon upgrade to replace R-22 refrigeration with a more environmentally conscious R404A; installing high efficiency light emitting diode doors on freezer cases; and new piping and valves.

In addition to the rebate check, Schulte's is expecting to realize a 23 percent savings in energy costs which equates to about 126 tons of C02 per year, equivalent to the amount of carbon sequestered annually by 26 acres of pine or fir trees.
