Injured worker rescued from near top of Arch

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A mechanic at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis is hospitalized with broken ribs after being rescued from near the top of the 620-foot-tall monument to westward expansion.

The man in his 50s was working on a broken tram Wednesday inside the Arch, in an area currently closed to visitors.

Arch officials say the man was pinned between the tram and the structure of the Arch. The Arch was closed for about an hour before it reopened.
