Man cooks up beans for today’s annual Ham and Bean dinner

Harold Markway served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
He then served drinks as a bartender and tavern owner from 1946 to 1990.
During that time, he joined the Host Lions Club, and has cooked beans for the annual Ham and Bean Dinner since 1961, only missing one Ham and Bean — to celebrate his 25th anniversary with his wife, Mary, with whom he will celebrate 61 years of marriage this month.
