YOUR OPINION: Attempts to dilute Prop. B criticized

Dear Editor:

The Senate agriculture committee's attempt to weaken Prop. B is horrible. If they have their way puppy millers will again be allowed to have any number of dogs. Shelters and breed rescue groups are swamped with dogs, many purebred, that no one wants. Yet the puppy millers keep churning out puppies.

The agriculture committee also wants to allow violators of Prop. B up to 180 days to correct violations. That's six more months of misery for dogs who are barely surviving.

As for what the puppy millers will do with their dogs if they choose not to comply with Prop. B, hopefully they will sell them to a humane breeder, not leave them without food and water as one licensed breeder did on Jan 16. The Humane Society rescued them.
