Snow causes roof of school bus garage to collapse

GRANBY, Mo. (AP) — Recent heavy snowfall is being blamed for collapsing the roof of school bus garage in southwest Missouri.
No injuries were reported, but the East Newton R-6 School District said the roof of the school’s bus barn collapsed onto the buses Friday. The area had about a foot of snow last week.
East Newton transportation director Jason White told The Joplin Globe that a few of the buses were damaged. But he said the district was able to move one bus out from the barn, and it has others in reserve.
White said the district has notified its insurance company, and estimates are under way to begin repairing the structure and freeing the buses. He said the roof itself is actually resting on the tops of the eight buses.
