Helias girls fall in overtime

WASHINGTON — The Helias Lady Crusaders opened the Borgia Invitational on Friday with a 51-50 overtime loss to Union.

Helias (5-13) led 10-8 after one quarter but trailed 16-14 at the half. The Lady Crusaders recaptured the lead after three quarters by outscoring Union 18-11 to take a 32-27 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Crusaders, who were outscored 18-13 in the fourth quarter, held a six-point lead with 45 seconds left in regulation before Union tied the game at 45 to send it into overtime.
