Fire damages East Side home
Jefferson City firefighters battle a house fire and extreme cold weather Thursday evening at 701 Ewing Drive.

A two-alarm fire Thursday night caused heavy damage to a residence on the East Side of Jefferson City.
According to Jefferson City Fire Department reports, damage to the structure at 701 Ewing Drive was estimated at $70,000-$80,000.
Fire Department Spokesman Jason Turner said the call came in around 5:20 p.m.
“A resident came home to find smoke coming from the residence. And when we got on the scene, there were smoke and flames coming from the second floor,” he said. “We had reports that the smoke could be seen from miles away.”

Yes, I saw the smoke at the stoplight of 179 & Route C... super far away.
