Salvation Army nearing capacity
Thursday, February 3, 2011
The Jefferson City Salvation Army shelter on Jefferson Street has remained open 24/7 through this latest snowstorm.
Maj. Kendall Matthews said an average of 37 people stayed overnight the past few days; they have a 40-bed capacity.
“We’ve had some interesting situations,” he said. “There were some people traveling through the area and unable to get from here to Kansas City or St. Louis.”
