Three arrested in JC drug bust

On Saturday at about 2:11 p.m. Jefferson City Police officers responded to a report of possible drug use at 617-A Madison Street.

JCPD officers knocked on the door and one of the occupants opened the door. The officers inquired about the strong odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the residence. The officers were denied entry and a search warrant was obtained to search the residence for drugs and related items.

As a result of the search several hundred dollars, a large amount of cocaine, marijuana, prescription narcotics, and scales were recovered. Additionally, two handguns were found at the residence one of which was reported stolen from Cole County.

Three persons were taken into custody and were transported to Cole County jail pending charges for receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana under thirty five grams and felon in possession of a firearm.
