New Year’s closings
Saturday, December 31, 2011
Because of Sunday’s New Year’s holiday, all federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed Monday, except for law enforcement and emergency services.
The State Archives, 600 W. Main St., are closed Saturday and Monday.
The Cole County Collector’s office will be open until 4:30 p.m. Friday, and again from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday — the last day to pay property taxes without a penalty — to accept tax payments.
However, the Cole County Assessor’s office will be open until 4:30 p.m. Friday, but won’t re-open until 8 a.m. Tuesday. People with any assessment issues affecting their tax payments won’t be able to resolve those on Saturday.
The U.S. Postal Service will operate with normal hours Saturday — with both Jefferson City post offices open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. — and on a holiday schedule Monday, with no regular mail deliveries or collections. However, Express Mail will be delivered as required.
Jefftran buses won’t run Monday, and will resume operations Tuesday.
The Missouri River Regional Library will be closed Sunday, but observe regular hours Saturday and Monday. The Daniel Boone Regional libraries will close at noon Saturday and be closed Sunday and Monday. The Heartland Libraries in Maries and Miller counties will be closed Saturday and Monday.
Because the holiday is Sunday, there will be no change to Allied Waste’s collection schedule, with trash and recycling pickups occurring on the normally scheduled days throughout Jefferson City.
The News Tribune will not publish a newspaper on Monday and its offices will be closed. Regular publication and office hours will resume on Tuesday morning. NewsTribune.com will be updated as warranted.
