Lady Jays outlast Benton for fifth place

Jefferson City was down to its last chance three times Friday against St. Joseph Benton. All three times the Lady Jays came back. All three times it was someone different.

The Lady Jays forced overtime with a late bucket, forced a second overtime with a 3-pointer and forced a third overtime with another 3-pointer.

They hung on for an 84-81 tripleovertime victory in the fifth-place game of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Fleming Fieldhouse.
