The permits would allow residents to park for an unlimited amount of time in metered spaces, at no cost, on the 200 and 300 blocks of Washington Street and the 100 and 200 blocks of West McCarty Street. Permits would be available for $20 per month and only one permit would be issued per residential unit.

Why is adequate parking not provided by the landlord instead of forcing these people to pay more? If you open a business in town you have to provide so much parking per square footage of retail. Once again the council places the burden on the people in the name of profit.

What a crock of BS. Force someone to pay to park their car in front of their own home. Even worse, a dual car household is forced to either give up one car or find some other place to park their second vehicle. I guess their expected to make use of the JC Transit system for now and once that new trolley system is up and running that will be available 24-7-365. Yeeeah Right!!!!

Why would they need cars? Doesn't life around here revolve around downtown?

I just wish the city "leaders" would get rid of the Draconian parking meters uptown. Parking meters are so stupid. We paid for the streets with our taxes, and with the meters they make us pay to park on the streets we already paid for. This is double taxation.

Agree- make the landlord provide parking for the tenants. There are plenty of vacant lots around that area, and some old vacant houses that could easily be torn down. The landlord could easily purchase some land and build a parking lot or a small parking garage.

The city council is so backwards and illogical on how it does things. They require Christy Lane to have sidewalks way out in the sticks at 179, but they don't make Schnucks put in sidewalks on the very busy Missouri Blvd??? What is wrong with these people and this town?
