Dave Griffith was introduced Wednesday morning as the new executive director of the American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter.

Griffith, who currently serves as 5th Ward councilman and television marketing consultant at KRCG, said he is resigning from both offices to accept the leadership role with the Red Cross. Plans to formally resign from City Council are still being discussed, and Griffith said his last day with KRCG will be Jan. 6.

He hopes to give a face to the American Red Cross, as he plans to focus on fundraising in the coming year. He said the services provided by the agency to people in need are often vital and money is needed to keep many of the services going when needed. Griffith is set to officially begin with the Red Cross on Jan. 17.
